Hi,I joined this group, because w.e (Idaho) does not have ANY sort of support group. I suffered severe hypoxia when I was 17 and also traumatic hits to the head. I have had 5 brain surgeries and I still am here. I look completely FINE, but my brain is rewired. People say I am a miracle, but I am a recluse. No one close understands. When I speak about having TBI, they tell me it is an excuse. I did not breathe for almost 15 minutes back in 1974, I had aspirated my stomach contents and had no brain stem activity for 12 hours. My parent's had planned my funeral. Throughout my life, I got married, had 3 kids and now I am a grandmother. Now that my kids are grown and out of the house, I am alone. Our state is ranked 47 for mental health care, we don't even have a neurologist for a community of 50,000. I have a PV shunt in my brain and I was life flighted to Utah, where I begged for surgery (inter cranial pressure), but the triage assessed me as a psych patient and put me on the back burner.

How milk and cheese protect the heart

More mainstream lies are being put out to pasture -- because a new study proves that the fatty dairy foods you've been told to avoid are actually good for you.

The Swedish study found that people who eat the most dairy fats have the lowest heart risk -- especially women, who can slash their odds of a heart attack by more than a quarter by simply enjoying more delicious milk and cheese.

Sound familiar? If you're a Dose reader it does -- because I've never been afraid of dairy fats, and I'll tell you the best way to get yours in a moment.

But if you've fallen for the old bait-and-switch at the supermarket and traded in real dairy for skim milk and soy cheese, the study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows what you've been missing.

Researchers recruited 1,000 volunteers -- 446 heart attack patients, and 556 who were healthy -- and tested them for pentadecanoic acid and heptadecanoic acid, two biomarkers of milk fats.

Don't worry about pronouncing those names, just make sure you get them in your body -- because the researchers found that women with the highest levels had the lowest heart risk: They were 26 percent less likely to suffer a heart attack. Men enjoyed a 9 percent drop in heart risk.

Still feel like nibbling on that low-fat cheese stick?

But don't rush off to swap your skim for whole just yet. If you REALLY want the benefits of dairy fats, you'll need to skip the supermarket altogether and go right to the source -- because nothing packs the pure nutritional punch of farm-fresh raw milk.

Raw milk contains the highest levels of absorbable calcium, essential fatty acids and critical nutrients like vitamins B12 and B6. It also tastes a heck of a lot better than that watered down factory garbage.

The only problem is getting it: Big Dairy has blocked any move at making raw milk accessible. Every state has different laws regarding raw milk. Your best option is to call your local dairy farm -- you may need to speak in code, but they can probably help you out.

Melanoma Awareness at the TOP of My List Today!

Well, if you have checked out my blog lately, you most likely know that I had a melanoma removed. I received the pathology report with GREAT news, CLEAN margins!

I personally know 4 people that have had melanoma removed this year. I was visiting with my dentist today and I showed him where the doctor found the melanoma. He told me about our local junior high principal. He is 44 years old and had a mole on his forearm which proved to be melanoma. This was at the beginning of this year. In just 6 weeks I was told that he has only a couple more weeks left to live and that he has lost all of his body fat.

Melanoma is DEADLY! It was a miracle that my doctor noticed the little black spot on my back. My son had his moles mapped at Huntsman Cancer institute. Pictures were taken of the moles to use as a comparison in 6 months.

Melanoma is curable! You just need to become aware and educated about melanoma. I remember having a blistering sunburn when I was 14. Most of the melanoma is caused by sunburns when we were little kids. I remember using baby oil to tan.

Surprise! I was shocked when I heard my Doctor at Mayo Clinic say "you have a melanoma"! I had no idea that I even had a spot in the middle of my back. The doctor said it had not invaded the whole dermis. So, I came home to Idaho and called the Huntsmann Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City. Initially, I called a local dermatologist and the nurse said the PA would most likely remove the spot. No Way! I had a friend who's doctor scraped her father's mole from his neck and he was dead in 2 months.
The reason I am posting this is I feel it was a miracle that Steven Ressler M.D., payed attention to the small spot when he was listening to my heart. The spot was flat, the size of a pencil eraser, black and had irregular boarders.
Melanoma is at an all time high in women between the ages of 25 and 35 according to Huntsmann Cancer Institute.

Happy New Year a few weeks late. I have finally found a niche that will help others and me also. I have had so many traumatic things that have happened in my life. I recently have gone through a very painful bout of inflammatory arthritis. Mayo Clinic physicians have said that my blood tests hat indicate painful RA have returned negative. So at this time I am pain free but I am experiencing the negative side effects of prednisone. I am also taking plaquenil that should burn out the arthritis. It is wonderful to have the inflammation dissipate. Prednisone is not a long term treatment because it causes havoc on the bones and body.

An update to my previous post about how I believed RIC (Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) would help me get my life back!
Well, the joke is on anybody that believes in marketing, fancy websites and celebrity spokesmen.

I suffer panic attacks when I even think about the horrible experience with the institution. They are pegged as the #1 rehabilitation facility in the U.S. Yes, on paper but in fact, the opposite is true. The whole experience reminded me of what horror stories the disabled encounter on hidden cameras, behind the door 20/20, Primetime and other watchdog groups.

Since this is New Years day, I don't wish to expound on the nightmarish experience because in so doing, I would have to take a Xanax.

I have an appointment at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona next week. They are organized and kind when consulting me over the phone. RIC's employees were very disorganized prior to my appointment in Chicago. Their phone skills were unprofessional and rude.

Remember, I recommended that anyone with a disability should consider RIC to get their life back together! NO! DON'T!

They don't even follow HIPPA guidelines!

Enough! I will keep you aprised of my experiences with Mayo's. They have a TRACK record! Be blessed with good health!

Hi Everyone!

I have been in Punta Mita, Mexico the last 2 weeks. My how time flies when you are with your family (especially the twin grandaughters).

I am looking forward to my appointment at the Rehabilitation Institue of Chicago. In addition to the brain surgeries, tethered cord surgery, chronic pain, I have been in debilitating pain for the last 3 weeks. So, I am happy that I am finally going to have rehabilitation and a complete and thorugh physical evaluation.

I am so blessed to live in the U.S.A. While visiting my daughter here in Mexico, I have not seen one disabled person. I believe that many people die here because of the lack of medical assistance and the mighty dollar.

Anyway, I will be headed for Chicago on Saturday, Oct 17th. I would suggest RIC to any chronic pain sufferer's and my Chiari friends.

I feel as though I have another chance at life. I have also become a Yoli distributor. A new innovation, this product, is bound to make a huge BLAST into the networking industry! Gotta run, Linda

Oh, I am so happy that winter is over, the ice is gone (no ice) and new life is budding in my backyard. One thing remains the same, I am disabled. I sit on my sofa, drinking coffee and trying to decide what to do next....... If you have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Chiari Malformation, Syringomyelia and Tethered Cord, you know what I mean, chronic pain. Well, I have decided to rise above my woes and make a difference in someone elses life! What? Yes, instead of doing for me, my goal is to help others realize their dreams. I was born with great abilities that have gone by the wayside, but I have abilities that have surfaced since letting go of the former.

I have worked in so many programs since leaving corporate America. There are a lot of scams (get rich quick) and crooks on the internet.

Direct sales (like Avon, Mary Kay) offer recession-proof jobs

Not long ago, Craig Lapp made his living driving a truck that helped carve Southern California's soil into new developments. But then housing sales slumped, and in November 2007 Lapp's construction company let him go.
While he searched for another job, Lapp began working alongside his wife, Lynne, in a business based in their Temecula home, selling nutritional supplements made by the direct-sales company Isagenix. Nearly two years later and with no construction job in sight, Lapp says a one-time sideline has become the couple's bread and butter.

"It's paying our mortgage, our car payments … putting food on the table," says Lapp, 55, who adds that he and his wife are earning a six-figure income. "It was our 'Plan B' that turned into our 'Plan A.' "

Direct-sales businesses that rely on home-based representatives to peddle their wares are seeing their sales forces rapidly expand as the nation's unemployment rate soars to nearly 9% and those who lost jobs and nest eggs look for new ways to make money.

"We're recession-resistant in the sense that more people come to us during economic hard times for supplemental income or replacement of a lost job," says Neil Offen, president of the Direct Selling Association, the trade group that represents the largest U.S. direct sales companies.

While 2008 industry figures aren't yet available, "Anecdotally we're hearing that recruitment is up and … unfortunately as the unemployment rate rises to 10% or higher, we'll be picking up more people who need an income-earning opportunity."

The recession has become a recruiting tool. An Avon (AVP) cosmetics representative declares in TV ads that "I can't get laid off. It's my business." Companies such as Isagenix, a marketer of weight-management and nutritional supplements and snacks, and jewelry maker Silpada Designs are coaching their representatives to spread the word that direct selling can keep you afloat in the faltering economy.

"Right now, our direct-selling opportunity is really the No. 1 product that we have to sell," says Geralyn Breig, president of Avon North America.

With that in mind, Avon this year launched its most ambitious recruitment campaign and saw its U.S. sales force grow to more than 680,000 through March, its largest ever, Breig says.

The same month, cosmetics company Mary Kay began airing its first TV ad for new representatives. In its first three days, visitors seeking information about becoming "beauty consultants" at MaryKay.com spiked 108%.

Silpada Designs, a Lenexa, Kan.-based company specializing in sterling silver jewelry, says its sales force in the U.S. and Canada was up 11.8% on May 1 from a year earlier. And Chandler, Ariz.-based Isagenix says its sales force was up 30% in March from a year before.

The hope is that larger sales forces will grow revenue, even in an economy that has shrunk sales for many companies.

"Representatives and recruiting are a leading indicator of future sales," says Jerry Kelly, Silpada's CEO, who acknowledges sales for his privately owned company were down roughly 10% in the fourth quarter of last year. "We're optimistic that we're going to fare fairly well this year as a company in a very difficult climate. … We're seeing a more determined and focused representative who might be looking to supplement lost income for their family."

There are roughly 15 million direct sellers in the U.S. — independent contractors who sell goods or services primarily through parties, demonstrations in someone's home and one-on-one interactions. In 2007, the most recent year available, the sales industry generated $30.8 billion in U.S. sales, according to the Direct Selling Association.

Sellers are recruiting

Avon aired its first infomercial last month, and rather than promoting makeup or skin products, it targets new recruits. The company kicked off its TV commercials earlier, with a 30-second spot during the Super Bowl pregame show in February. That ad, a 60-second spot and the infomercial will air all year.

The cosmetics company is also going to job fairs this year, scouting for new salespeople at more than 140 such events, Breig says. It's also beefed up its presence with online job search engines and since February has had a recruiting ad in the front of every one of its brochures.

"We're executing the boldest recruitment campaign … in our history," Breig says. "It's part of our mission to enable women to have a financial solution."

That resonated with Elizabeth Leyba, an assistant office manager for a plumbing company who lives with her family in Munster, Ind. Leyba saw her hours cut last year and needed a way to make up her lost income while maintaining her office job and busy household.

So in April 2008, after watching a TV commercial for Avon, she decided to give it a try. In the year since, she has discovered that she is an entrepreneur.

"I didn't know it, and I'm thrilled that I am," says Leyba, 39, who has sold more than $10,000 worth of Avon products and hopes to sell full time. "Even though there's a recession, even though the economy is bad, my business has continued to grow."

Leyba's Avon earnings have paid for everything from gas to her 17-year-old son's senior pictures. "I've been working since I was 16 so, you know, I like the fact … it's your own business," Leyba says. "I am in control of my future now. Not corporations."

Compensation systems vary, but representatives primarily earn money from commissions on product sales or by purchasing the products wholesale and selling them at retail prices, says the Direct Selling Association. Commissions on sales typically are 25% to 50% of retail.

While representatives may also earn a small commission on the sales from representatives they've recruited, legitimate businesses do not use recruitment alone as a basis for compensation, the association says.

Denise Ruiz-Cabrera, 31, of Branchburg, N.J., was nearly five months pregnant in March 2008 when she lost her job as a corporate recruiter. She could not find a new job.

"I exhausted almost every single contact that I had," she says of her search. Though she'd used Avon products, she'd never thought of selling them until this year. She saw one of Avon's recruitment ads, "and I thought to myself, 'Why don't I do that?' "

Knocking on doors is history. Direct sales representatives now find new customers through such methods as referrals, gatherings and parties, spontaneous meetings on the street and the Internet. Ruiz-Cabrera is one who does it all.

"I've sort of coined the term, 'Welcome to 21st-century Avon,' " says Ruiz-Cabrera, who has a personalized website maintained by the company. She carries brochures in her purse and her baby's stroller, promotes favorite products on her Facebook page and meets new representatives she's recruited at the local Starbucks.

"I think people in these times, we're hungrier than we used to be," says Ruiz-Cabrera, who has made as much as $1,000 a month with Avon. "I had jobs lined up in the pipeline that all fell through because of the economy, and I focused all that energy on my business and in three months I've built something that looks to be pretty promising."

Retirees join in the trend

It's not only those who have lost jobs or endured pay cuts who have turned to direct selling.

"We're hearing a lot from women who've recently graduated or are about to graduate and are finding it to be quite a challenge to find a career," says Rhonda Shasteen, Mary Kay's chief marketing officer. Then there "is the other end of the age spectrum: women who are approaching retirement age, and saw a lot of their savings wiped out, and find themselves with a very short time frame and with a need to make up a lot of money."

Lawanna Lloyd, 66, and her husband, Rodney, 69, retired in 2000. But in the wake of the stock market fall, Lloyd says they are now worth about half of what they were just 18 months ago.

To make their retirement nest egg last longer, Lloyd's husband returned to work last year, teaching chemistry at a private school in their town of Boerne, Texas. Then Lloyd, who was a stay-at-home mom through most of her marriage, decided she needed something, too. "That's when I signed up with Silpada," she says.

She is rattled that there was a need for her and her husband to return to work at all.

"It doesn't feel good," Lloyd acknowledges. "It makes life very uncertain, and scary. …Who wants to go back to work?"

But she made more than $500 from her first jewelry parties in April, and she enjoyed hosting them.

"I think Silpada does provide the perfect solution for earning some money and being able to set my own schedule," she says. "We had decided that we would do something … to earn income for four or five years and see where we are then. Hopefully by then the market will have recovered and we'll feel like we can retire again."

Kim Joseph, 26, of Stewartsville, N.J., received a master's degree in public health in 2006, but has struggled ever since to find a job in her field. She worked for her sister as a nanny before getting a full-time position as an account manager with a marketing solutions company.

Last June, she decided to start selling Mary Kay cosmetics on the side, partly to earn extra cash for her upcoming wedding. She now intends to forgo a public health career and eventually sell the makeup line full time.

"I've been able to see how being a consultant gives me room to impact the lives of women," says Joseph, who added that selling Mary Kay also gives her freedom to spend more time with her husband without crimping their household income.

Direct selling is a fluid industry, with only 10% of representatives working "full time," or at least 30 hours a week. Many work only long enough to meet short-term goals, such as holiday presents.

But some who work in or watch the industry believe the severity of this recession may cause more sellers to stick with it, even when the economy rebounds, at least as a way to supplement their income.

"I truly believe this has readjusted people's thinking," says Kathy Coover, executive vice president and co-founder of Isagenix. "With this economy, people can't take their jobs for granted anymore. They have to have another alternative … so if something does happen, this is their safety valve."

The Chiari malformation is an abnormality in the lower part of the brain called the cerebellum. There are several different forms. The most common type is the Chiari I malformation (CM) which this article addresses. Less commonly, it may be known as Arnold-Chiari malformation, tonsillar herniation or tonsillar ectopia. Most cases of Chiari are congenital, meaning they are present from birth.

In normal anatomy, the cerebellar tonsils are located just above this line called the foramen magnum. But in an individual with Chiari, the tonsils hang below the line (herniate) into the spinal canal. The degree to which the tonsils extend can vary tremendously.

What are the symptoms?
The most common symptom of Chiari malformation is a headache, which begins at the back of the head (neck) and radiates upward. The pain is often made worse or can be brought on by coughing, sneezing or straining. These activities are known as valsalva maneuvers.

Visual problems such as nystagmus (involuntary eye movements), double or blurred vision may occur. Balance difficulties, vertigo and dizziness also may be present. Some people may have cranial nerve compression. This can result in apnea (cessation of breathing), gagging, swallowing difficulties, facial numbness or syncope (temporary loss of consciousness).

Patients may have muscle weakness, particularly in the upper extremities, coordination problems, and gait abnormalities. Imaging of the spine may reveal a fluid collection inside of the spinal cord, known as a syrinx. Some individuals may have hydrocephalus, a buildup of fluid in the ventricles of the brain.

Is there a treatment?
The first step after diagnosis is to consult with a neurosurgeon who has experience treating and managing this disorder. Be aware that you may need to travel and you may wish to consult with more than one specialist.

If symptoms are mild and not progressing, your doctor may recommend conservative management. Supportive care such as headache and pain management, physical therapy or a reduction in activities can help manage symptoms.

An operation may be recommended. This is referred to as a posterior fossa decompression. The surgeon makes more room in the back of the head by removing small pieces of the skull bones. This reduces compression of the brain stem and allows the tonsils to move back into their natural position. The specific surgical techniques will vary among surgeons; no consensus yet exists on the best variation on this surgical procedure.

Is this condition hereditary?
Researchers investigated the genetic implications of the Chiari malformation with or without syringomyelia. A genetic prevalence has been identified in some families. Researchers continue to search for the gene(s) that are responsible for producing the Chiari malformation.

MRI scanning is recommended for family members who have signs or symptoms of the disorder

I finally have some time and a working computer so that I can update my blog. I definitely love the warm weather. As soon as I arrived in Idaho from Mexico, I could barely stand the cold. My daughter and her twins came to visit for the next 2 weeks.

The toddlers are asking me "can we go to beach?". We took them to the park here and one of the babies asked "sun"? The sun shines constantly in Punta Mita Mexico. The locals don't have many personal belongings but they are rich in Joy and Love for the Lord.

I am busily putting a marketing program together that can be duplicated. I don't want to go back to the corporate world, because working for someone else is creating wealth for the owner of the business. The corporate world is VERY uncertain. Employees are a liability, so one hopes that pink slip won't show up on their desk.

The most important thing in life is to fulfill your purpose. Since I have such a bad cold, I will continue this blog tomorrow. I just wanted to say hi and that my website is back up. I was in Mexico and my domain expired. Before purchasing a domain, ask me which company "NOT" to use.

Attention: I just read that the PV shunt that was used in shunting for hydrocephalus is being recalled. I am contacting my Neuro Surgeon regarding my shunt that was placed in 2007. It is a voluntary recall, meaning "they don't have to tell you"! I am sick of the FDA and physicians that don't contact their HUMAN patients. I had my surgery at the University of Utah and Dr. Brockmeyer was the surgeon. I am going to contact him tomorrow regarding the brand he used in my head.

FDA Classifies Medtronic Voluntary February Recall For BioGlide® Ventricular Snap Shunt Catheters (Models 27782, 27708 And 27802) As Class I

MINNEAPOLIS – March 27, 2009 – Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT) announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classified as Class I its voluntary recall action initiated on February 11, 2009 of its BioGlide® Ventricular Snap Shunt Catheter (Cat. #s 27782, 27708 and 27802) – the cerebral ventricular catheter component of a shunt for the treatment of hydrocephalus. FDA defines Class I recalls as, “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.” This recall action (applicable to units in the United States, Ireland and Australia) involved the retrieval of unused product and safety notification of implanted product of these three catalog numbers of Medtronic Cerebral Ventricular Catheters. Approximately 3,000 catheters have been distributed between 2002 and 2009. It is estimated that there are 300 unused catheters.

As of March 18, 2009, Medtronic completed contact with all users of these catheters. This was completed by visit from its field personnel delivering the recall notification and to retrieve unused products. In addition, Medtronic has notified all its U.S. customers even though they may not have received the affected product. Patients with the implanted shunt system not experiencing symptoms of shunt malfunction should continue to be managed under the standard patient management protocols. If a disconnection occurs, patients may present with a return of the symptoms of hydrocephalus and should be assessed in accordance with standard of care for assessment of shunt malfunction.

The recall involved the following models:
- Innervision Snap Shunt Ventricular Catheter, BioGlide®, Catalog Number 27782
- Snap Shunt Ventricular Catheter, BioGlide®, Catalog Number 27802
- Snap Shunt Ventricular Catheter, BioGlide®, Catalog Number 27708

It has been determined from nine reports of disconnected catheters requiring revision surgery, that the listed ventricular catheters may become detached from the snap base assembly after implantation and that this condition may increase the need for emergency revision surgery. There have been no reports of patient death or permanent serious injury as a result of this issue.

Consequences for a patient with failure of a ventricular catheter may include: nausea, vomiting, headache, lethargy, change in mental status, seizures, visual disturbance, and other more serious conditions. Patients with questions are encouraged to talk with their physician or contact Medtronic Neurosugery at 1-805-571-8400, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT. I want to thank you for reading my blog. I am going to fly to Chicago on Tuesday. I will sit (yes sit) in one of the most advanced MRI's in the world. It is the "sit down and smile MRI". I really had a rough week with pain and depression, but the Lord blew the clouds of heaviness away when I received a phone call from Maureen Lee. We met on Facebook and I am so blessed and honored to have met my sister in the Lord at such a perfect time of the Lord's plan. She is a gifted writer that is in the process of writing another inspired novel. I have asked that she write on this blog. Why should I keep all of her God breathed words just for myself. I love her as if I had known her all of my life. I know that she will always be in my life for eternity.

A physician was going to fuse a 16 year olds back because of her scoliosis. I have found my niche and it is in helping the disabled with finding doctors, comforting and yes, earning money from home. I have been with one of the companies for almost 7 years now. I worked diligently from home and created a nice check. After 1 year, I became ill and to this day, I am getting a check from the same company that pays for my house payment and other bills.

The biggest blessing is, the money I earn still comes in if I need to travel to New York for surgery or travel to my daughters house in Mexico.

Happy Saturday!
I got so excited to find pics of my grandchildren that I had to post them. Thank You for sharing them with me. I traveled to my daughter's house today. It is near Jackson Hole Wyoming. She is going to start eating www.covertchocolate.com because she wants to lose some weight, get healthy and earn another stream of income.

I have been in network marketing for 6 years. I graduated from Illinois State University in 1991. I was 35 years old and couldn't wait to earn "a lot" of many in the corporate world. That world is NOT very friendly, especially when you have an invisible disability. I am 50 percent blind and have a difficult time reading close-up work. I was promised a JOB with a huge corporation and when they found out that I couldn't read actuarial charts at a fast speed, the company's HR director said "this company will NOT listen to the government and spend millions of dollars in making this place handicapped accessible!". I was informed that I did not pass the speed test. Discrimination occurs often especially when a person is not visibly disabled. I finally was hired as an Executive Outside Sales Rep, where I became the 5th highest earner in national cellular company. I have the numerous awards to prove it. I earned as much as a MD. After 3 years, my disability landed me in the hospital and the company fired me! My manager had wanted my job. Firing someone because of their disability is illegal. I sued this company and after a 6 year battle in the courts, I decided to settle. The settlement paid off all of my bills (hospital, doctors and creditors)and the rest of my money paid the LAWYERS! I had given all of my POWER to the cellular company. I was earning 6 figures, had great insurance, profit sharing and more. I lost it all in 1 day. No one was going to ruin my life another time. My children suffered because we lost everything! I was "fired" just one week before the company would have had to pay me $5,000 per month until retirement. My insurance was gone.

I never did lose the dream of being independent and free of this world system. I was not going to become another statistic of discrimination. So, I started working in network marketing. The Lord guided me to the RIGHT person and the Right place. The company I joined met the criteria for a good, stable company. The cost to open my business was less than $50.00. After 6 months, I had recruited 147 people into my business and won "Dream Team" for my company. 6 years later, even though I haven't worked the business actively for 5 years, I still receive my monthly residual checks that pay my house payment car payment and other incidentals.

I can take vacation and still get paid. No, I am not a millionaire yet, but I can be and I will assist my team with their goals. No one can fire me now because of disability. Chiari, Tethered Cord, Syringomyelia and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome ARE invisible but I was slowly deteriorating. (Update: I had surgery at www.chiariinstitute.com )

Network marketing is everything I thought it would be. Your success depends on your commitment and your company. There are so many money scams and ponzi scams on the internet. Do your due dilliagence and research the company.

Don't forget to take care of your health. I just realized today that I haven't followed my surgeon's directions. I was supposed to have 4 MRI's last November. AI had Tethered cord surgery. Prior to the surgery, I was losing control of my legs, having neuropathy (burning of skin),headaches, tightness in chest, headaches and unsteadiness. I am so blessed to have had the best surgeons and the pioneers of this surgery. So many people have tethered cord. The symptoms are usually misdiagnosed by physicians.

I have met so many tethered cord patients and chiari patients that have been diagnosed with mental illness (all in your head), multiple sclerosis, arthritis, aging and more.

The common symptoms are depression, headaches, bladder and rectal control issues, neuropathy, looseness of joints, lower back pain and loss of coordination. OK, now that I have had my surgery, I need to go to physical therapy, eat healthy and have my MRI's. Sometimes I spend too much time on the computer and neglect my physical needs. In order to enjoy this business I am building, I have to have my health so I can enjoy success. The same holds true for everyone!

Life Without The Computer

I received some bad news today. No, everybody is well. My daughter's laptop crashed! She and her husband Brady had so many beautiful pictures on that hard drive (fortunately he had downloaded many of the jpg's onto flash drives).

I have most of their pictures because I uploaded his jpg's to my on-line Picasa (I love Google). I suggested that he sign up for a Google Account and use Picasa.

My daughter has a set of twin girls, Abigail Lily and Isabelle Renee. My son has a daughter, Cienna Skye. They are gorgeous and constantly changing. Armed with a Canon Digital Camera, the girls are an object of obsession.

The moral of this story? Brady and Michelle are upset about the pictures that were lost due to technology breakdown. The pictures that do remain should be made into hard copy and placed in an album. I was born in the late 50's and I have only a few pictures of my childhood that I cherish. Camera's were expensive, film was often over exposed and crummy pics were thrown away. Who needs all of those freeze frames anyway. One great pictures will keep the picture of our loved one fresh in our minds. One good tru chocolate is better than 100 pieces of a mediocre chocolate.

Happy New Year 2009!
January is usually a real downer, especially when the snow reaches above a 6 ft. cedar fence. Brady, Michelle and the twins (Abigail and Isabelle) moved to Mexico. They left the snow of the Teton's to the warmth of the sun in Punta Mita, Mexico. I am packing my bags and on my way......
